Corporations are People

Corporations are People

A short video I made expressing my view of the January 21, 2010 ruling of the United States Supreme Court in the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission campaign finance case.

The Court held (5–4) that the free speech clause of the First Amendment to the Constitution prohibits the government from restricting independent expenditures for communications by nonprofit corporations, for-profit corporationslabor unions, and other associations.[

In the case, the conservative non-profit organization Citizens United sought to air a film critical of Hillary Clinton and to advertise the film during television broadcasts shortly before the 2008 Democratic primary election in which Clinton was running for U.S. President.

The audio track is a clip from “Blows Against the Empire” by Jefferson Starship.

Instead of “Corporations are People” I could have called the video “Money is Speech”.
