Currently re-reading the gender bending 1960 science fiction novel “Venus Plus X” by Theodore Sturgeon which made the 1961 short list of nominees for Hugo Award for Best Novel. It’s still a fun read 50 years later but the gender bending shock and exhilaration are not as pronounced to us 21st century Left Coasters as they were to a teenage Oklahoma boy. Still, one must acknowledge the role science fiction authors have had in breaking many of our social & cultural barriers. Thanks Theodore Sturgeon!
