A short video I made expressing my view of the January 21, 2010 ruling of the United States Supreme Court in the <\/strong>Citizens United v. The Court held (5\u20134) that the <\/strong>free speech<\/strong><\/a> clause of the <\/strong>First Amendment<\/strong><\/a> to the Constitution prohibits the government from restricting <\/strong>independent expenditures<\/strong><\/a> for communications by <\/strong>nonprofit corporations<\/strong><\/a>, for-profit <\/strong>corporations<\/strong><\/a>, <\/strong>labor unions<\/strong><\/a>, and other <\/strong>associations<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong>[<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the case, the <\/strong>conservative<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>non-profit organization<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>Citizens United<\/strong><\/a> sought to air a film critical of <\/strong>Hillary Clinton<\/strong><\/a> and to advertise the film during television broadcasts shortly before the <\/strong>2008 Democratic primary election<\/strong><\/a> in which Clinton was running for U.S. President.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
